Granada is an inland city near the southern tip of Spain. There are 80k students in Granada, making up about a third of the population. It is home to the Alhambra, a giant 1,000 year old Catholic/Muslim castle build with Islamic influence, and the second most visited place in Spain after Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Along with the Alhambra, surrounding neighborhoods are the on UNESCO World Heritage Site list, meaning their original architecture must remain in tact. This results in an absolutely stunning city. I’m afraid my pictures won’t do it justice, but take a look!
Friday Night 1: Flamenco Dancing
After a 6 hour bus ride we arrived in the city around 8pm. We ate dinner, checked into our hotel and walked to a cute little restaurant/theater to see traditional flamenco dancing and catch a view of the castle we would visit on Sunday.
A few students were grabbed up to dance at the end 😆
Saturday: See the City!
After a good nights rest we woke up and took a walking tour around the city. It was soooo hot outside. Also a lot of the walk is uphill and the streets are made up of slippery stones to help filter the water downhill so I was sliding all over the place in my rainbows haha.
Also naps, food, and going out on Saturday. Okay I cannot hang with the Spainards. They are nuts. They don’t start to go out until 3am!! And then they stay out and go straight to breakfast. What do people do from 10pm-3am?! It’s as if no one gets a full 8 hours ever, just random naps. I tried twice. Donezo, I love my American sleep schedule haha. Whenever you order a drink you get a free tapa so that’s cool. Here’s some pics of food ☺️ it was better in Barcelona though lol.
